Winters Family Land -Washington County, Texas
About Me
I’m a huge advocate of Ancestry.com and I believe in helping people discover their family history and connecting with their heritage. I help others embark on their own journey of self-discovery.
This site is all about genealogy. What you can discover is that your family is larger than you originally perceived. There might even be close relatives that you’ve never met; including siblings, aunts, uncles, and even biological parents.
My maternal grandmother’s family, the Winters/Scales are originally from Washington County, Texas circa 1861. ….by way of Mississippi, Alabama, and North Carolina.
As a Winters, Scales, Yarbrough, and Spiller genealogist, this website is an ongoing culmination of years of research. My intent is to continually share the knowledge I gain, in any way that I can. This includes blogs, webinars, and personal interaction. And of course, our reunion events. It’s my hope that someone will be able to Google James Winters, or his wife Senora Scales and learn quite a bit about their lineage from this website: or at the very least get a useful jump in their own research.
I’m always asked, “Leonard, what made you start researching and what drives you?” The answer to that can be complicated, but I’ll simplify it for my readers.
I want to find my lost ancestors, establish a deeper connection to their past, and identify my “lost” cousins. Because of that, I use both traditional research methods and that of DNA.
Do you need help in your own personal research? Just ask. Check out this page here. I believe in giving back.
Isa 58:12- Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Paths to Dwell In.
Leonard Mixon
I’m a people person and nothing says people like genealogy. I also have a passion for history, and when you combine the two, there I am. Family history.
More importantly there is nothing like discovering living relatives from descendants that you didn’t even know existed.
